Hold On

You've been trapped and can't escape.
You've been sad and losing weight.
I can't believe what's happened to you
In one year

You used to shine as bright as day,
But your seasons change and your skies turn gray.
I can't believe what's happened to you
In one year

Hold on to your head,
When your heart is broken.
Clouds will clear
And the sun will shine,
Once again.
Hold on to my hand
If you feel like jumping,
And I will be here til the end of time.

It all started on the day,
That your best friend passed away.
I can't believe what's happened to you
In one year

And all the hours of tears you cry,
Beautifully they stain your face.
I can't believe what's happened to us
In one year

Hold on to your head,
When your heart is broken.
Clouds will clear
And the sun will shine,
Once again.
Hold on to my hand
If you feel like jumping,
And I will be here til the end of time.
Til the end of time.

Hold on to your head,
When your heart is broken.
Clouds will clear
And the sun will shine,
Once again.
Hold on to my hand
If you feel like jumping,
And I will be here til the end of time.

Hold on to your head,
When your heart is broken.
Clouds will clear
And the sun will shine,
Once again.
Hold on to my hand
If you feel like jumping,
And I will be here til the end of time.

  • Ok, first I love this song, cause I know it's being heard in Stadium's Nation Wide! It's upbeat sound, and classic Lovehammer riffs are very clear here....... I just love hearing this song Live! The band does many variations of this song, with the "pump up" parts and switches in it, is just AWESOME to hear Live is all! I also can always remember Marty, jumping, you can hear the performance on the CD in certain parts, is just an awesome song! By Nancy Davis

  • I seem to tie LH songs to my family. When I first heard this song I immediately thought of my son. He had just recently been told by his fiance that she "didn't want to be engaged anymore." I knew a lot had to do with things that had happened to her over the previous year and how she was or wasn't dealing with them. My son is a very caring and understanding young man, and while I know he was hurting, he also understood the problems she was having and I could see him playing this song for her. Unfortunately, I don't think he saw this song that way, I haven't been able to get him hammered yet. But every time I hear this song I think of the two of them.

  • Everytime I hear this song is reminds me of my best friend. She had been w/someone for over 13yrs and then they broke up right before Christmas. She had a lot of rough goings after the break up. First with trying to sell their house. Him moving out and not giving money for the bills and moving out of state. And much more that I can’t really divulge due to her privacy. But this part of the song: I can't believe what's happened to you in one year, one year Really hits home because it was one year of pure hell for her! I think out of this she has become a stronger person and some self discovery about herself. Clouds will clear and the sun will shine I always told her that eventually it will get better but to stay strong and true to yourself. And boom house sold and bought herself a townhome to call her own! I’m so proud of her being strong and learning that no matter what life throws at you to stand tall and push forward. But it is ok to have those doubts and moments of crying, it will only make you stronger! I will be here till the end of time This part really speaks to me because I always put everyone else first. I will do anything for anyone. I would take my shirt off for anyone I really care about (well not literally but u know what I mean LOL). I don’t like focus to be on me or burden anyone with my troubles. But I feel that after what happened it made us closer as friends because she realized what a true friend is. And Marty is the master of lyrics and expression. I love they way he puts commitment & passion into every song he sings. True Master!

  • Lovehammers songs touch me personally always. That is one of the reasons that I love their music so very much. This song is close to me because I did have a lot happen to me in one year. One thing I had happen to me in one year was losing an extremely great teacher friend, in a car accident. She was on her way to work with her son on a country road driving to work one morning and she was driving without her seatbelt. She lost control of her suburban and her son flew out of the windshield and she died on the spot. Her son survived. Some of her students were on a school bus and recognized her suburban and knew it was her. She was a wonderful teacher, once named teacher of the year and she always had a smile on her face and was always positive and friendly with everyone she met. I miss her dearly.

  • In Spring of 2006, my best friend's brother died unexpectedly. He was three years younger than us, but part of the group of zanies we all hung out together with in high school. It's been really tough for all of us who loved him, and loved each other to see us all hurt so badly. We were constantly telling each other to Hold On. These lyrics especially made me think of my best friend, like a sister to me really, during this time: You used to shine as bright as day
Seasons change and your skies turn grey
I can't believe what's happened to you in one year, one year

    Hold on to your head
    When your heart is broken
Clouds will clear and the sun will shine
    Once again
    Hold on to my hand
    If you feel like jumpin'
I will be here till the end of time

It all started on that day
That your best friend passed away
I can't believe what's happened to you in one year, one year

All the hours of tears you cry
    Beautifully they stain your face
I can't believe what's happened to us in one year, one year

It's been over a year, since his death, and some other hard things were happening to people I knew and loved during that time as well, but this song helped me remember to "hold on" -- to friends, family, love, faith, all the good and beautiful things that help us through this life.
